2024-2025 Team Policies

PARENT DROP OFF & PICK UP POLICY

DROP OFF – Dancers should NOT be dropped off more than 10 minutes early for practices. Once dropped off, dancers should stay in the main lobby area and wait for a teacher before entering practice rooms. Dancers should not roam the halls, run, yell or make noise in the schools as there are still teachers working in the schools when we begin our rehearsals. Respect should ALWAYS be given to our staff, as well as Elementary School Staff at all times.

PICK UP - At the conclusion of each practice, we assign a team director to stay for a few minutes to make sure dancers are picked up and not left alone at the Elementary Schools. It has become a problem where directors are often staying well past team time. It is not always the same people who are late, but if one different family is late every time, it adds up and our team directors are staying late every time.

To help alleviate this problem, here is our policy…
  • It is expected that you will pick up your child on-time. If you know you will be more than 10 minutes late for pick up, YOU MUST arrange ahead of time or at that time for your child to be picked up by someone else or meet you at an alternate location. Team directors will not stay longer than 10 minutes after team time ends.
  • If this is a problem that occurs repeatedly, a phone call will be made by the program director and late fees may be incurred, which will be determined on a case by case basis.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
It is critical that team members are at each and every rehearsal. Regular and consistent attendance allows dancers and the team to progress and move forward together. This includes being ON TIME and NOT LEAVING EARLY. We ask that if you feel there is an exception and you will need to miss for something, please speak with your team director in advance and seek joint agreement. Dancers that miss for approved absences (listed below) are still responsible to make up material missed during their absence PRIOR to the next rehearsal.

Three things that you may miss for (with notification and joint agreement in advance):
  • Illness - If you are sick, you must contact me immediately so we can make a gameplan. This may include Zooming you in to practice, if we deem necessary. If you have symptoms of being sick, please notify your team director right away so that you can together decide the best course of action.
  • A family wedding/funeral/family event - If you are missing for this reason, it really should be for an immediate family member and in advance of the absence.
If you feel you have a legitimate exception that doesn't fit one of these, feel free to communicate well in advance and seek permission. However, please know that permission may not be granted depending on circumstances.

DRESS CODE
BOYS – Plain white T-shirt or BYU shirt, black Latin or sweat pants, required dance shoes for their team.

GIRLS – Plain black T-shirt with at least cap sleeves, black dance pants or knee length dance skirt, biker shorts,
and required dance shoes for their team. No tank tops or crop tops; midriffs or undergarments shouldn’t be showing. Please keep hair pulled at least back in a ponytail so it is out of your face.

***We ask all dancers to be courteous in using personal hygiene with deodorant, perfume, cologne, etc.***

"The BYU Youth Dancesport Program is fantastic!  We, as a family, value the atmosphere in which they learn from seasoned professionals who truly care about each of them as individuals as well as the teams they are a part of, instilling in them that they each represent something bigger than themselves."
"The experiences and lessons learned have been invaluable!  Not only has each child developed their skills and abilities in dance, but they have learned many life lessons.  They have learned that hard work pays off.  How to work together in a team setting, and how being a positive contributor is key to success. They rub shoulders with wonderful coaches and great kids."
